The "Sociability Gene"

Research  from "Next" a novel by Michael Richton (2006).

Sociability gene. A team of biologists from France discovered a master gene responsible for controlling and manipulating people. Dr. Narcejac-Boileau claim that the gene is ''associated with social dominance and strong control over people." A team of geneticists believes that this gene is present to some of the most deadly dictators in the history of our time, namely Hitler, Stalin, Lenin etc. But more in this day, this form of gene exists in politicians, policy advocates, religious fundamentalists and celebrities. 

The gene causes the individual to have a belief complex which is manifested by a strong feeling of certainty, carefully nurtured sense of resentment towards those who does not agree with them and highly parallelled with a powerful sense of self-entitlement. They know how to get what they want from company to a greater degree than others. Additionally Dr. Boileua urges that ''Many people driven to control others merely want everybody else to be the same as they are. They can't tolerate difference."

I had always been interested in the idea of  science and its study of DNA and I find this report controversial. By identifying the ''sociability gene'' it completely destroys the notions of free will, life experience and destiny. What's the next thing after this gene? So a person with the "slave gene" will never be able to alter this trait in his life because he was born with it? But could they be right? On some level, we are born with different genes making us all unique and in life so far I have seen some geniuses that studies once and get it right the first time. Others like me revises for 10times, nothing goes in. 

I've seen some people really good at break-dancing, I'm sure that the French scientist could say that they were born with the talent. And the same goes to the beautiful people with amazing voices I've encountered. I suspect the same could be said about them. They were born with the voice. If these scientists are right then could the  creation of a superhuman being be possible? One that has all the good genes. Its a crazy idea but I really believe that we are born in a technologically advanced era... Therefore I shan't be surprised if mutants, aliens, and androids dominate our world... maybe in 5, 10, 20 years time?
